White-winged Dove (Zenaida asiatica)
Linnaeus, 1758. 3 subspecies recognized, here is shown australis.
General features Unique Dove in Costa Rica with a white wing bar, even visible with the closed wing. Greyish brown general plumage, with a slight purplish tinge on breast. Red legs. Narrow black stripe on cheek, very reduced in juveniles, which also present a scaled mantle.
