Male White underparts with black breast. The whte throat and the absence of wingbars separate it from S. torqueola. Black upperparts with an incomplete white collar and white rump. White panel on primaries. Two races in Costa Rica, de Caribean one is completely black, with the wing panel (females of both races are identical).
