Adult Very similar to C. europaeus, but with a rusty band on nape that separates de grey of the crown and the one of the mantle, which is continuous in the European Nightjar. Broad pale tips on all the wing coverts. Carpal area of the same tone as the rest of the wing, while in C. europaeus it is notably darker than the rest of the plumage and it is bordered in its lower part by a very contrasted pale broad band.
