General features Rufous brown plumage, with slightly streaked breast. Ivory colored bill, slightly decurved. With good light, the dark red iris and the greenish legs can be noted. As well as other creeping birds (Certhiidae or Picidae), the tail is long and hard, carrying out a suport funtion. The feet disposition is anisodactylous, as well as in perching birds, but the thumb is strongly ossified to improve its support function in the vertical trunk. This allows Woodcreepers to exploit a wider ecological range.
