Adult Grey general coloration, with more ochre breast and tending to chestnut towards the vent. Pale throat with black borders, but without a collar, differently to other similar Saltator. Conspicuous white superciliary line. Juveniles have a general green tinge and the white of throat and superciliary line is yellowish.
