Very large Toucan, 56 cm. Completely black plumage, salving the white rump, red infracaudal coverts and broad yellow bib. Bicolored bill, yellow and brown. Dark iris and greenish plumage around eye. Juveniles have shorter bill and dark brown instead of pure black body.
