Yellowish white general coloration, with black wings. Black tail with white base and tips of rectrices, salving the central pair. Orangish head with a prominent crest, yellow bare skin around eye. There are two variants, one with orange bill and eye (which is shown here) and another one with yellow ones. It frequently acquires the posture shown in the sequence, perched on a branch with the wings down and the back plumage up. As it is very terrestrial, it spends most of the time searching for prey on the humid grass, so it often sunbathes to dry up its plumage.
