Adult White underparts, dark bright blue upperparts from head to tail. Blue collar between breast and throat. Deep red forehead and throat, with black lores. Strongly forked tail, longer in males. Juvenile is separated from adults because of the grey tinge of upperparts and collar, yellowish face instead of red and shorter tail.
