General features Large and robust falcon, it occurs in all continents with its 18 subspecies. In the Iberian Peninsula the size separates it easily from any other species. The yellow of eyering, cere and legs is characteristic. Very broad black moustache. Female is notably larger than male, being separated in the field if they are watched together. Grey upperparts and white, black-barred underparts. Juveniles are brown on upperparts and ochraceous on underparts, strongly streaked.
