General features Very common in Pantanal. Brown upperparts and pale underparts and head, with a pinkish or purplish tinge. It coincide in Pantanal with another species, almost identical, sometimes difficult to be separated in the field, L. rufaxilla is slightly larger, with a silver grey tinge on the sides of breast and neck, and with red bare skin around eye, being bluish on L. verreauxi.
