Adult Similar to Piaya cayana, but notably smaller and much rarer. Chestnut brown on upperparts and breast, grey on underparts. Long tail with white tips of rectrices. Yellow bill and red eyering. Juvenile is more greyish and with dark bill. It occupies dense forestal areas, preferentially close to water, gallery forests, mangroves, generally in the low parts of the vegetation.
