Non-breeding plumage
In winter, upperparts turn into a brownish grey, mottled with white, it looses completely the black on face and underparts, which turn into white, more greyish on breast. The second part of the sequence shows the difference with a scolopacid (Tringa nebularia), notably slimmer than charadrids.
