Male Endemic to the Canary Islands and Madeira. Similar in size to S. serinus, but more narrowly streaked and with greyish tinges on head and breast. Streaked, grey-brown upperparts in both sexes, more yellow on rump. Underparts of males are cleaner and more yellow, with streaks only on flanks. Females have grey breast and more abundant streaking.
