Endemic to Costa Rica and Panama. Unmistakable warbler with intense red throat and breast. Rest of underparts pale. Plumbeous grey upperparts, with black mantle and black mask. Juveniles are brownish, with paler tips of wing coverts, ochre throat and breast.
