Defense posture
As the rest of the ardeids, the tiger-herons adopt a characteristic defense posture consinting in stretching the neck and the rest of the body with the bill pointing upwards, mixing and confusing with vertical vegetation. For that, the skull morphology has been modified allowing the eyes a frontal sight while the head is pointing completely upwards.
