Male Very small, 11 cm. Greenish brown upperparts. Black tail with a very visible white longitudinal line. White underparts with black borders of feathers, giving a scaled aspect. Male presents red on the anterior part of crown and forehead, and black on the posterior side. On females, the whoe crown is black, with white spots.
