Size: Between 15 cm (Dwarf Tinamou, Taoniscus nanus) and 49 cm (Gray Tinamou, Tinamus tao).
Distribution: Neotropical Region. Strictly sedentary.
Habitat: Forestal areas. Sometimes clearings or open areas, always close to the forest.
Feeding: Seeds, fruits and insects.
Breeding: The nest is a depression on the ground with a little vegetal material. 1-12 eggs. Incubation 19-20 days.
