Order Trogoniformes 40 species in 6 genera
Size: Between 23 cm (Scarlet-rumped Trogon, Harpactes duvaucelii) and 40 cm (Resplendent Quetzal, Pharomachrus mocinno).
Distribution: Neotropical, Afrotropical, Oriental and south of Nearctic regions. Apparently sedentary.
Habitat: Eminently forestal, mainly in mid stratum and canopy. From low altitudes to 3,000 m.
Feeding: Arthropodes, amphibians, reptiles and fruits.
Breeding: Tree cavities and arboreal termite mounds. 2-4 eggs. Incubation 17-19 days. Nestling period 17-28 days.
