Size: Between 25 cm (Pearl Kite, Gampsonyx swainsonii) and 150 cm (Himalayan Griffon, Gyps himalayensis).
Distribution: Whole planet, excepting Antarctica. Tropical species tend to be sedentary, while the ones in temperate areas can perform migratory movements.
Habitat: All type of ecosystems: dense forests, wetlands, coasts, deserts, high mountain, tundra or urban areas.
Feeding: Carnivorous (mammals, fish, birds, amphibians, reptiles, insects). Some species include fruits in the diet.
Breeding: Stick and other vegetal material platform, generally in a tree. 1-6 eggs. Incubation 28-60 days. Nestling period 24-150 days.
