General features Smallest Hornbill in The Gambia and Senegal. Red bill, very broad superciliary line, black crown stripe and greyish neck. White underparts and black. mottled upperparts. The male is slightly larger, but it's difficult to determine in the field and there are no other significant differences between sexes.
