Adults
The sexual dimorphism is very strong. The male is very striking, with clean rufous brown back, without spots, contrasting with the bluish grey of the head and greater coverts. Female plumage is brown and strongly spotted, lacking the bluish tones of males. Juvenile is very similar to female.
