Female
Very small. Fast and nervous. The broad red mark over the eye, in both sexes, separates it from the rest of species with similar size and habitat in Senegal and The Gambia. Black upperparts with two very marked white stripes. White underparts. Males with a narrow black pectoral band and white whole throat. Females with dark throat (chestnut with good light, usually looks black) and only a bit of white on chin. Juveniles have yellowish eye mark and a general duller coloration.
