Size: Between 30 cm (Toco Pardo, Red-billed Dwarf Hornbill) and 100 cm (Northern Ground-Hornbill, Bucorvus abyssinicus).

Distribution: Afrotropical, Oriental and Australasian Regions. Not migratory, although some species undertake movements in function of food availability.

Habitat: Forestal areas and savannas.

Feeding: Mainly insectivorous and frugivorous, few carnivorous species.

Breeding: Natural cavities in trees, cliffs or banks. 1-8 eggs. Incubation 25-40 days.
