Size: Between 7,5 cm (Pygmy Antwren, Myrmotherula brachyura) and 34 cm (Giant Antshrike, Batara cinerea).

Distribution: Neotropical Region. Salving few exceptions, strongly sedentary.

Habitat: Forestal areas and dense scrubland. Frecuently in clearings and borders, generally, at mid and low height.

Feeding: Mainly insects. Sometimes fruits and small vertebrates.

Breeding: Open cup in a fork of a tree or bush. 2 eggs. Incubation 14 days approximately. Nestling period 7-14 days.
